SUMMARY OF MAJOR FUNCTIONS :
The Clinical Supervisor manages effective clinical service delivery for consumers in residential and outpatient settings. The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of all clinical services for persons served, including supervision of clinical staff (counselors), timely reviews and approvals of all clinical documentation for services, support of quality processes, and coordination of services for substance use disorder and mental health. This position reports to the CCO.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Staffing of Clinical Services :
- Responsible for ensuring that all scheduled mental health clinical services (e.g., therapy groups, didactics, etc.) are staffed adequately each day
- Available to provide backfill support as needed
- Continuously monitor census roster; adjust caseloads and caseload assignments as needed
- Continuously monitor admission and discharge reports; alert administration about any concerns noted
- Collaborates with the Manager – Fidelity, Training, and Interns to ensure placement and support of interns
Clinical Supervision Services :
Participates in the review of clinical issues and program policies and procedures.Consult with Managers, Counselors, and related professional and paraprofessional staff, as appropriate, in the performance of therapeutic and / or casework; to include appropriate referral for services as requiredConduct and document performance reviews for every clinical staff (90 days of hire and biyearly. Reviews are required annually on the anniversary date of hire)Identifies training opportunities for clinical staff; coordinates with the Manager – Fidelity, Training, Interns, and the CCO to have training needs met either internally or externallyParticipates in case conferences, mid-treatment reviews, utilization reviews, etc., as needed or requested.Quality Maintenance of Direct Clinical Services :
Conduct and document Group Fidelity checks (monthly) of group counseling sessions and didactics, including providing feedback during supervisionConduct and document Supervision (one-to-one) for clinical staff in accordance with the Quality Assurance Program Plan (QAPP)o Weekly for all clinical staff weekly within the first 90 days of hire
o Monthly for clinical staff with an MCBAP developmental plan
o Monthly for licensed, credentialed, and / or master’s level clinical staff
Conduct and document Direct Observation / Live Supervision for all clinical staff that provide direct services (individual and / or group counseling)o All clinical staff will be observed weekly within the first 90 days of hire
o Clinical staff with an MCBAP developmental plan will be observed quarterly
o Licensed, credentialed, and / or master’s level clinical staff will be observed semi-annually
Supports QAPP training as necessaryAids accomplishment of performance indicators, outcome measures, and data tracking for quality improvementCollaborate closely with the Quality Assurance Manager and CCO to resolve issues concerning the agency’s QAPPQuality Maintenance of Clinical Service Documentation :
Track that when consumers are discharged from programs a discharge summary and closing out of charts are done within 3 business days after the consumer discharge dateParticipates in all agency audits (external) as neededAdditional Responsibilities :
Maintain incident reporting as required by EHI Policy and Procedures and governing and accrediting authoritiesGive clinically appropriate consequences to all incidentsProviding positive reinforcements for all programmingProvide weekly monitoring of treatment planning, reviews / adjustments of treatment planning, discharge planning, etc.Facilitate positive staff morale by leading by example, cultivating a culture of collaboration and support, mutual respect, open communication, and integrityCollaborate with CCO to achieve key performance goals, tasks, and responsibilities, and continuously seek efficiencies in program operationMust be available 24 x 7 for coverage of unexpected clinical emergencies, and provide clinical direction to Residents Aids telephone callsEnsures that drug screens are conducted correctly and in a timely manner, responsible for final approval of drug screen records, statistics, and reportsResponsible for final approval of written communication (e.g., absconder reports, etc.) with Criminal Justice Personnel (e.g., Probation and Parole Officers)Identifies opportunities for quality processes and workflowsSupports onboarding training and supervision for newly hired clinical staff for at least the first 90 days (probation period) as needed and as directed by the CCOParticipate in regulatory meetings and all agency, unit, team, and individual meetings as requestedSupports and adheres to the rules and regulations of EHI, regulatory and accrediting bodiesFosters positive relationships with community partners, stakeholders, etc. to enhance the organization's reputation and broaden its reachImplements other duties or procedures as requested by the CCO and executive leadershipMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree in health or human services, or behavioral science and a full license is required. Prefer (2) years’ experience in mental health and chemical dependencyHolds a CCS or a CCS-DP or equivalent credential as defined by MDHHS, DWIHN, MCBAP.Prefer experience in delivering cognitive / behavioral skills, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and / or pro-social skills training.Must be computer literate and able to learn and maneuver in various electronic medical record systems.Maintain credentials and licenses that support job function.Excellent verbal / written communication skills and ability to communicate with both clinical and non-clinical audiences.Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.Demonstrated commitment to ethical and cultural competence.Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and data analytics.Strong prioritization and organizational skills.Ability to manage several projects and priorities simultaneously.Solid verbal and written communication skills.Ability to exercise excellent judgment and work independently.No active police warrants may not be on probation or parole.If in recovery, must have a minimum of (10) years of continuous sobriety and abstinence.Must have no current case open with the Department of Corrections.Must have no Felony or Misdemeanor convictions for a minimum of (8) years prior to employment.Must pass an MDOC LEIN Clearance.
