$2,262 to $2,406 per week

About The Position

Unit Details – Neuro Acute 6NNA / B

Beds : 48 total (10 epilepsy specialty rooms)

Certifications : BLS, ACLS required; BSN preferred; MedSurg / Tele certification preferred

Ratios : 1 : 4 (days & nights)

Charge Nurse : Yes, no patient assignment; 1 resource RN day & night

Nurse Aides : 1–2 PCTs on days, 1 at night

Weekend Requirement : 3 shifts per 4-week period; self-scheduling

Holidays : Integrated into rotation

Scrub Color : Greys Anatomy / Steel

Telemetry : Mainly MedSurg; some Tele required

Vents : BiPAP; RT available to manage

Hospitalist / Intensivist : In-house during days

IV Team : SWAT RN available for difficult sticks

RT Coverage : 24 / 7

Pharmacy Coverage : 24 / 7

Shifts : 12-hour (7–7); may be placed on standby

Floating : Possible to MedSurg / Tele floors

Floor Orientation : 2 shifts

Epilepsy, 24–48 hour Trend EEGs

Brain tumors

Subdural hematoma

Scoliosis surgeries

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

Other neuro diagnoses

Skills / Key Competencies

Strong critical thinking and assessment skills

Ability to detect subtle changes in patient condition

MedSurg / Tele RNs with strong skills will be trained to assess cranial nerves

Familiarity with self-releasing velcro seat belts (for patient safety, not restraints)

Job Requirements

General Requirements

Experience :

Must have Level 1 Trauma experience.

Minimum 2 years of ICU or MedSurg / Tele experience.

BSN preferred; MedSurg / Tele certification preferred.

Radius Rule : Must live 50+ miles from facility; Driver’s License is the source of truth (include with submission).

Screening & Approvals :

Medical Solutions Pre-Screens : If clinical recommends, sent to manager for approval — no 2nd interview required .

Dysrhythmia Exam : Must pass prior to acceptance; max 2 attempts. Failure = DNU 6 months (CS AZ & Sac Region).

Day 1 Pass / Fail Exam : Details provided during orientation.

Travel Requirements :

Teams must have own vehicles .

Appearance : Natural hair color, no facial piercings .

Men must be clean-shaven for N95 fit testing.

SIM Lab Requirements

All RNs must complete SIM Lab for :

Foley catheter insertion

Central line dressing changes

Exceptions :

NyICU : Foley insertion only

ED : Foley insertion + port-a-cath insertion (no central line dressing)

Pass / fail : Breaking sterile field results in termination.

Additional education : lifts, restraints, wound care (non-graded).

Competency in sterile technique is critical. Candidates not confident in these skills are not a fit .
