Job Description

DRT Metal Packaging Solutions (MPS) is hiring for a new position. We seek an engineer with experience as a Manufacturing or Process Engineer, with significant exposure to Quality. The role involves leading our path towards ISO 9001 certification, initially focusing on quality (approximately 80%), then transitioning into a Manufacturing Engineer role post-certification. Summary

  • Develop and implement in-process inspection procedures for the production floor.
  • Improve manufacturing process routings.
  • Develop and implement rework processes for quality issues.
  • Maintain the facility's quality management system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Work with floor leaders to create shop floor bubble prints and inspection sheets for new or complex parts. Develop and improve manufacturing routings, including estimating setup and run times. Assist in training machinists on inspection sheets and measurement methods. Audit inspection sheets for compliance and coach for improvements. Collaborate with design engineering on print changes for cost reduction. Follow up on corrective actions from quality meetings and work on NCMRs involving suppliers or outside processing. Process customer complaints and corrective actions. Manage the Material Review Board for non-conforming parts. Assist in document control and weekly quality metrics reporting. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years experience in low volume / high mix machining.
  • Knowledge of quality certification requirements / programs.
  • 1-3 years experience in problem solving, waste identification, and measurement techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Skills and Abilities

    Fluent in English, able to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and specifications.

    Mathematical Skills

    Basic arithmetic, use of formulas, charts, and specifications for data analysis.

    Reasoning Ability

    Problem solving, interpreting instructions, and dealing with variables in non-standard situations.

    Physical Demands

    Regularly standing, using hands, reaching, talking, and hearing. Occasionally sitting, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Visual acuity required for close and distance vision.

    Exposure to moving mechanical parts, moderate noise level. Reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.
