Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for night shifts in a Level 3 trauma acute care setting with a current CA RN license and at least two years of ICU experience.
Responsibilities
Work in an 8-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at an acute care hospitalPatient population includes high numbers of sepsis, medical-surgical patients, diabetic ketoacidosis, CHF, and COPDTypical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 1-2 with an average census of 3-4 patientsUses Cerner EMR, Cerner experience preferredPhillips telemetry monitored centrally, with vents including Via and Hamiltons12-hour night shifts (7pm-7am) with every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks requiredFloats rarely, but could float to medsurg, peds, or ER if qualifiedCharge nurse takes a patient assignment; no nurse aides but support from a unit clerkNo required on-call, but optional if desiredTypical patient care includes managing drips (heparin, insulin, levophed, dopamine) and ventilatorsRT is available 24 / 7 but pharmacy coverage is limited to 10-hour days with telepharm after hoursFloor-specific orientation of 2-3 shifts providedSelf-scheduling is utilized with schedules posted 30-45 days in advanceHoliday shifts work within permanent staff rotationScrub color requirement is navyNew travelers are welcome to applyMust be a team player with the ability to adapt quickly in a family-type, close-knit environmentRequirements
Active CA RN license required at time of considerationCurrent ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required (all through AHA)Dysrhythmia certification through AHA required (can be completed online)Minimum of 2 years current ICU experience requiredMust provide two professional references : one from a supervisor within past 12 months, one peer or supervisor from past 3 yearsCopy of driver's license requiredMust pass facility-specific Relias Dysrhythmia exam and sterile technique test prior to or during orientationNot eligible if employed by facility's health system within the past year (excluding PRN through external firms)Benefits
