Registered Nurse (RN)-Nursing Radiology
This position will staff in both Interventional Radiology and Endoscopy based on the staffing needs of each department for the day.
PART I - General Job / Performance Information
Education and Experience
Graduated from an accredited nursing school. Must have a current license from Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners. Must have 1-2 years critical care / emergency center experience.
Environmental / Working Conditions
Works in a well-lighted, heated and ventilated building. Hours may vary to accommodate needs in the department as prescribed by the philosophy of the hospital. May work units other than the assigned one with orientation. Exposure to blood borne pathogens is high risk. Must be able to wear a lead apron for 1-2 hours, weight approximately 10 pounds,  required for diagnostic / special procedures.
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position requires close interaction with other ancillary departments in order to facilitate a quality multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
Job Description
Gives professional nursing care to patients and provides supervision and guidance to other members of the nursing staff. Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing and has a current license from the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners. Experience in general nursing , with emphasis on critical care / emergency room. Call required weekly with weekend call rotations.
Required Licensures / Certifications / Registrations
Current license from Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners. Must have current BLS, will provide ACLS, TNCC, and PALS within the first year of employement.
Physical Capabilities
Work is of medium demand; walking, sitting and standing most of the time while on duty. Occasional lifting or patients with assistance is required. Adequate hand / eye coordination and fine motor skills required. Talking and hearing is essential in instructing and supervising nursing personnel and in receiving doctor's orders and patient's condition reports. Near visual acuity required to work with charts and records and to observe patients.
Skills and Abilities
Knows clinical and nursing standards and practices in accordance with them. Special interest in scientific and technical activities for understanding and responding to nursing problems and concepts. All nurses will be required to show current knowledge and clinical competence of the special skills required to give quality care to patients on their unit. Age specific knowledge is required when needed for appropriate patients' care.
