CDM Smith's CEI team in Location is seeking a candidate to inspect and monitor construction activities at project sites. Inspectors must be able to perform complex inspections for at least 2 of the 5 categories of construction inspection : 1) Roadway 2) Bridges 3) Drainage 4) Erosion & Control 5) Maintenance & Traffic. Work may be under limited or direct supervision depending on the assignment. Knowledge of materials, methods, equipment used in highway construction; ability to read and interpret construction plans, contract provisions and specifications; and strong communication skills are required.
Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent. Certifications from a State Highway Agency or a national entity (e.g., ACI or NICET) in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction. Must possess a valid driver's license. 6 years of related experience. Domestic and / or international travel may be required. Equivalent directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Skills And Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Intermediate arithmetic and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Ability to adapt to new technologies and rapidly learn new software and devices. Advanced knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction. Ability to read, understand, interpret and explain construction plans, drawings, contract provisions, and specifications.
