Structural Engineer – Intermediate Marine Engineer, COWI North America

Location : San Diego, CA (North America). Employment type : Full-time. Seniority level : Intermediate.

COWI is a leading engineering consulting company dedicated to creating sustainable solutions. We are seeking an Intermediate Marine Engineer to join our team working on prestigious infrastructure programs across North America.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical documents such as design basis documents, calculations, drawings, specifications, and engineering reports.
  • Perform structural analysis and design for marine infrastructure, bridges, and heavy civil projects, including reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, steel, timber, deep foundations, gravity-based foundations, and earth retaining structures.
  • Interface with multidisciplinary specialists (geotechnical, coastal, engineer-divers, mechanical, electrical) to develop integrated solutions.
  • Implement design best practices, ensure conformance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Review calculations and prepare engineering reports and memoranda.
  • Prepare construction drawings and technical specifications.
  • Conduct construction administration activities and perform site inspections as required.

Qualifications

  • M.S. or higher degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Four (4) years of professional experience as a structural engineer, with emphasis on marine infrastructure, coastal engineering, bridges, tunnels, or heavy civil projects.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E. or P.Eng.) license.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to build relationships.
  • Willingness to travel and perform fieldwork.
