About The Position

Must-Have : Critical Care Assessment Skills, Critical Thinking, Vent care, Central Line care, Hemodynamic monitoring

Description :

201 licensed beds with a Level 3 Trauma designation.

Teaching hospital.

Certified Chest Pain Center.

Stroke Center.

Unit has 18 beds with an average census of 17.

Patient types include sepsis, DKA, substance abuse, flu, COVID, pneumonia, CHF, stroke, and GI bleed.

Patient ratios are RN : 1 : 2 and CNA : 1 : 9.

Support provided by CNA for baths, blood sugars, turning, and toileting.

No Health Unit Coordinator present.

Charge nurse available 24 / 7 may have a patient assignment.

Phlebotomy only for peripheral blood draws.

IV Team available.

Respiratory Therapy on site 24 / 7.

Hospitalist availability around the clock.

Intensivist available 24 / 7 with virtual critical care during the night.

Telemetry monitoring available at the bedside and nurses' station.

EMR system used is EPIC.

IV pump and medication dispensing system are utilized.

Monitors are Philips brand.

Unit-specific equipment includes Artic Sun.

Weekend rotation is every other weekend.

No call required.

Holiday expectation is to work 75% of holidays.

Request time off can be approved for up to 6 days excluding holidays; additional time may be added to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours.

Shift times are 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. or 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Schedule cycle is every 6 weeks.

Teamwork is emphasized within the unit's culture.
