DMH Policy Director

Overview

The Vermont Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking a dynamic, experienced leader to serve as Policy Director. This senior leadership position plays a critical role in shaping the policy and legislative priorities of DMH in close collaboration with the Commissioner's Office and the Agency of Human Services.

As Policy Director, you will :

• Oversee the development, advancement, and implementation of mental health policy and legislative initiatives.
• Provide strategic guidance on complex mental health issues impacting Vermonters.
• Coordinate with state and federal partners, legislators, advocacy organizations, and stakeholders to inform and advance DMH's policy agenda.
• Lead policy analysis, track legislation, and prepare materials that support decision-making at the highest levels of state government.
• Work in a fast-paced environment where collaboration, flexibility, and strong communication skills are key to success.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in an office setting. Some travel may be necessary, for which private means of transportation should be available. Some evening or weekend work may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher AND five (5) years or more of professional level experience in the mental health or public health field.
