Job Description
UPMC is hiring a full-time Diagnostic Technologist to join their UPMC South Surgery Center in Bethel Park! This position will cover imaging needs for the Surgery Center OR located at UPMC South Hills. In addition, Technologist will cover both the General and Orthopedic Clinical Diagnostic areas at our UPMC South Hills and UPMC West Mifflin Imaging site located at 1907 Lebanon Church Rd Some travel will be required for this position.
This position performs imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. This includes working in the OR, providing and operating the C-ARMS for cases in need and operating the Portable Xray unit when in need.
This position will work rotating 8-hour shifts from 7 : 30am to 5 : 00pm, Monday through Friday, and rotating shifts on Saturdays from 7 : 30am to 12 : 00pm. No evenings or holidays required! Previous OR experience is preferred.
Responsibilities :
Technologists hired before graduation will have indirect supervision by an ARRT certified diagnostic technologist until the degree is verified. Technologist cannot work in an outpatient setting until ARRT has been obtained.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances :
ARRT Registry eligible as a Radiologic Technologist.
Must obtain radiography registry within 6 months of hire date as of January 1, 2025. Diagnostic Technologists hired prior to January 1, 2025, will need to obtain their registry within 12 months of hire / transfer date.
CPR or BLS Required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. Technologist cannot work in an outpatient setting until ARRT has been obtained.
If working in a NY facility, you must have received certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and be Licensed through the New York State Department of Health.
