About The Position

Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills / experience required

IV therapy and phlebotomy skills / experience required

Description :

Position involves working in an emergency department setting.

The average daily census is 175 with a 56-bed emergency department.

Will work every other weekend.

First-time travelers are accepted.

No on-call requirements.

Floating within scope is not required.

Candidates should discuss schedule requests with the manager.

RTO restrictions ideally limit to no more than 5 days.

Client may call-off up to 36 hours per thirteen-week assignment without compensation for the cancelled hours.

Combined adult and pediatric experience is essential.

Requires interpretation of dysrhythmias and management of dysrhythmias.

Must manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction / failure and obtain 12 lead EKGs.

Required skills include administration of blood products, phlebotomy, and starting IVs.

Experience with continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and IV vasopressors is necessary.

Experience is required with patients experiencing a CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury.

Must manage and apply splints for orthopedic cases.

Pediatric experience needed includes abdominal pain, asthma, head injury, identifying and reporting abuse, infections, poison ingestion, and respiratory infections.

Must manage psychiatric cases such as acute psychosis, drug overdose, and suicidal patients.

Required respiratory experience includes chest tube insertion / management and intubation.

Knowledge of isolation precautions and triage is necessary.

Experience with Cerner charting is essential.

The facility is a Magnet-designated acute care hospital with a Level I trauma center.

The unit supports interdisciplinary care with services such as physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services.

Common chief complaints include chest pain, abdominal pain, trauma, neurological emergencies, and psychiatric emergencies.

Special procedures in the unit include procedural sedation, blood transfusions, and rapid fluid infusion.

All candidates must comply with the facility’s policies and complete necessary onboarding steps prior to the start of the assignment.
