Overview
Adjunct faculty position at the College of Dental Medicine, Nova Southeastern University. The role assists with the clinical and didactic training of dental students under the direction of the Department Chair of Endodontics. This is a non-exempt, hourly position.
Location : Fort Lauderdale, FL. Employment type and schedule are based on course needs and assigned by the designated faculty course director.
Essential Job Functions
- Prepare and deliver instruction to dental students.
- Facilitate activities in the classroom, simulation laboratory, clinic, and / or other settings.
- Act as a liaison between students and the faculty course director.
- Provide and facilitate examinations, including assigning grades consistent with course requirements.
- Teach or facilitate classes based on varied schedules to accommodate diverse student needs and to meet the expectations of the College as assigned by the designated faculty course director.
- Follow the course curriculum as assigned.
- Prepare assignments.
- Evaluate student performance and learning.
- Maintain an active classroom environment conducive to student learning and success.
- Assess clinical education needs and patient and client teaching needs using a variety of methods.
- Demonstrate patient care in clinical units.
- Complete NSU mandatory trainings (e.g., HIPAA compliance, technology training, Canvas training).
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education : DDS / DMD or foreign equivalent dentistry degreeRequired Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities : Knowledge of dental medicine, curriculum / training design and teaching for individuals / groups, English language proficiency, customer service principles, and instructional strategies.Skills : Instructing, critical thinking, judgment / decision making, active listening, active learning, complex problem solving, speaking, reading comprehension, learning strategies.Abilities : Finger dexterity, deductive reasoning, inductive reasoning, speech clarity, fluency of ideas, problem sensitivity, oral comprehension, oral expression, written comprehension, written expression.Physical Requirements : Speech recognition, speech clarity, near vision, manual dexterity; ability to sit / stand as needed; travel as required; may work nights or weekends; ability to lift up to 25 pounds.Other Requirements
