  • Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university.\n
  • Licensed in the state of Tennessee.\n
  • Must respond to hospital within thirty minutes for "on call" requirements.\n
  • ACLS certification. If not currently certified, must obtain certification prior to taking call.\n
  • One year experience in PACU Phase 1 or 2, CCU, or Emergency Room.\n
  • BLS within 90 days of hire.\n
  • PALS within 90 days of hire.\n\nWorkplace Experience : \nPeri operative Care\n\nEquipment and Skills Training : \nStandard patient care equipment for services provided. The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently and to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of setting. General equipment to area and Network computer system, Omnicell Medication System, Meditech Order Entry Computer System; AT&T Language Line, epidural pumps.\n\nPhysical Environment : \nA Post Anesthesia Care Unit / Holding Area with patient population ranging from less than one year of age>

ninety-nine plus years of age.\n\nPhysical Effort : \n

  • Able to communicate in English verbally and legibly.\n
  • Able to stand / work for up to twelve hours a day.\n
  • Able to lift with assistance up to 250 lbs.\n
  • Able to transport patients with assistance.\n\nPERFORMANCE STANDARDS\n
  • Performs a comprehensive assessment on all patients within the appropriate time of admission utilizing skills of observation, communication and examination.\n
  • Plans the patient's care on an individual basis, identifying problems / needs, nursing diagnosis, standards of care / practice, interventions consistent with identified problems and attainable outcomes.\n
  • Collaborates with appropriate surgical team members to effectively coordinate the delivery of patient care in a timely manner.\n
  • Plans for and provides education, emotional and psychosocial support for patient and family.\n
  • Functions independently with treatments, procedures and equipment appropriate to areas evidence by adherence to policy, procedure and competency based assessment and no pattern or trend of problem.\n
  • Handles / transports / stores / prepares / administers medications / solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.\n
  • Documents accurately and timely.\n
  • Reassess patient's condition, evaluate patient response and modify plan of care accordingly and in a timely manner.\n
  • Maintains healing and therapeutic environment for the patient and family.\n
  • Facilitates staff development and assists in helping train new staff.\n
  • Demonstrates responsibility for assigned communications and special assignments.\n
