Position Summary
This position is expected to function independently or with minimal supervision in all laboratory areas and duties including but not limited to, performing phlebotomy, specimen processing, and clerical duties, all of which are to be performed in a timely and efficient manner. Front Office Functions
Performs Start duties prior to opening LabAdds tests for add-ons and handles recollects or Properly charges STATs to HMO'sCopies of insurance cardsUses proper stamps on orders such as FROZEN, LabCorp, QuestPrints daily logsPetty CashFaxes reports from previous dayHandling of drug screens collectionsQuotes lab pricesMaking depositsPrint labels for requisitions and specimensProperly obtains ABN forms for Medicare patientsObtains orders from Intergy or patientsObtains and uses valid diagnosis codesProperly identification of patientsCollects any monies from patients and issue receiptsChallenges ambiguous orders and handles according to protocol, and taking takes verbal ordersVerify patient insurance informationProvide services for patients and doctors' offices such as lab resultsDirects incoming faxes to correct personnelAnswers phone and assists callers, properly transfers callsProperly calls or faxes any panic or stat results to appropriate provider per written protocolQuantity / Timeliness of work that produces optimal productivityPerforming tasks with minimal errors.Understands and must know how to perform assigned tasks.Ability to master and understand new work routines in this area.Degree and willingness to put forth in performing these tasks.Phlebotomy
Verify orders and requisitions match, checking all testEnsures ABN is properly filled out and signedLabels specimens properlySupplies proper information on requisitions pertaining to drawing such as Date, time, initials, number and type of tubes drawnAble to draw 6 patients an hour (35 to 40 patients per day)Rarely needs a butterfly to draw patients. (Ask assistance before using a butterfly)Keeps requisitions filed in folder and assists with preparing the folders for scanningProvides phlebotomy services to doctor's offices when needed such as Special Procedures and Family PracticeBack Office
