Director, Clinical Pathology OpportunityLocation : Binghamton, NYSetting : Hospital-Based Department of Pathology & Laboratory MedicineEmployment Type : Full-Time, permanent positionPosition Highlights Leadership role directing operations of the Clinical Laboratories Department 60% diagnostic work, 40% administrative responsibilities Reports to the Medical Director and Chair of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Opportunity to lead a large, multi-hospital pathology departmentKey Responsibilities Oversee laboratory quality management system and compliance with clinical laboratory standards Provide continuing education and competency monitoring for staff Define technical and administrative responsibilities for laboratory personnel Assess and document staff competency annually and with new system implementations Ensure safe laboratory environment and adherence to approved procedures Monitor laboratory operations to guarantee accurate and reliable results Advise physicians on interpretation of laboratory findings Ensure participation in proficiency testing and corrective action implementation Participate in institutional and medical staff committees as neededStaff Supervision Medical technologists and technicians within the department Interim oversight of Lab Technical Coordinator / Manager, technical and support staff Address personnel issues in coordination with section leadersRequirements Physician license to practice in New York State Board certification in Clinical Pathology Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) Proven leadership, organizational, and administrative skills Service-oriented with emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and collaboration Strong understanding of medico-political and reimbursement issuesExperience Previous general laboratory experience preferredIdeal Candidate Dynamic leader with strong professional ability and vision Effective communicator with sensitivity to institutional and community healthcare needs Committed to maintaining high-quality laboratory operations and patient-centered care Estimated pay range / amount is Pathology Opening in Binghamton, NY.
