JOB SUMMARY
The Supervisor of Anesthesia Technicians, under will have overall responsibility for the planning, organizing, supervising, and coordinating of daily activities to maximize staffing and OR schedule efficiency. The Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring consistency of care, job performance, and compliance management for anesthesia technicians. The Supervisor will be responsible for appropriately staffing surgical procedures, ensuring resources (equipment / supplies) are readily available, coordinate scheduling, maintaining competencies, and other projects as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Assists the anesthesia personnel in the delivery of quality patient care by ensuring the availability of necessary supplies and equipment for each anesthetic procedure at all anesthetizing sites.
Maintains customer focus while performing job duties, use proper communication skills, show initiative, and work well in a team oriented environment.
Assists Anesthesiologist with inserting arterial catheter needles and brachial and internal jugular catheters; attaches to transducers and flushes with saline solution; obtains arterial blood gasses and assists in the analysis of blood gases.
Participates in the physiological monitoring of patients during procedures requiring anesthesia.
Orders and restock supplies, maintain clean and safe environment in patient care areas, workroom, and utility room and staff lounge.
Coordinates and administers department personnel policies and procedures in conjunction with selection, orientation, counseling, training, evaluation of employees in compliance with applicable employment regulations.
Monitors and adjusts staffing to ensure appropriate support of anesthesia support operations while minimizing costs.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Advanced understanding of anesthesiology principles and practices, modalities, therapies, terminology, medications and equipment.
Skill in preparing operating room for required purposes.
Ability to react calmly in emergency situations.
Ability to clean and perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
Must be able to communicate thoughts clearly; both verbally and in writing.
Interpersonal skills required to interact effectively with patients and staff.
Must be able to read, write and follow instructions and flow chart protocols.
Ability to make tactical decisions around the allocation and direction of the work of supervised employees using established guidelines, policies and / or procedures.
Ability to make effective hiring and termination recommendations.
Ability to train, and evaluate performance of supervised staff.
General computer skills, including but not limited to : Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
Certified Anesthesia Tech preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Life Support (BLS) : BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
