The New York Post is looking for a City Hall Reporter (M-F) to keep a close eye on the mayor’s office, City Council, and the political forces shaping the city.

This role isn’t for the faint of heart—we need a reporter who can hustle for scoops, ask the tough questions, and break exclusive stories that keep New Yorkers informed. If you thrive in a

Coverthemayor’soffice,CityCouncil,andkeycityagenciesanddepartments including the Department of Education and the MTA with a sharp, critical eye.

RegularlyworkfromCityHallandcultivateadeepnetworkofgovernmentsources.

Breakexclusivestoriesthatholdcityleadersaccountableandsetthenewsagenda.

Translatecomplexpolicy,budgets,andgovernmentdecisionsintocompelling,clear stories.

Filebreakingnewsquickly,accurately,andconciselyundertightdeadlines.

Leverage SEO and social media best practices to expand audience reach.

Collaboratewitheditorsandotherreportersoninvestigativeprojectsandenterprise stories.

Requirements :

Atleast1yearofexperiencereportingonlocalpoliticsorgovernment.

UnderstandingofNewYorkCityHall,themayor’soffice,andcitypolitics.

Theskillstodevelopdeepandreliablesourcesincitygovernment.

Anosefornews,withthedrivetobreakexclusivestories.

Strongwritingskills—abletoturndrygovernmentreportsintomust-readjournalism.

Abilitytothriveunderpressureinafast-paced,deadline-drivennewsroom.

Experience with WordPress and knowledge of SEO and social media best practices.

Willingnesstoworkflexiblehours,includingearlymorningsandoccasionalweekends.

Note : This role requires on-site reporting from New York City Hall four days a week.

Pay Range : $60,000 - $65,000
