Scheduler / Financial Clearance Representative

Job Summary

This position is responsible for the delivery of various customer facing services within the revenue cycle. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, scheduling, registration, insurance verification, prior-authorizations, financial counseling / individual solutions, cashiering and customer service. Position adheres to departmental productivity, quality, and service standards in support of operational goals.

Scheduling responsibilities include answering and making calls for scheduling, rescheduling, pending, and canceling patient appointments as required. This position will answer patient's questions regarding basic medical tests and procedures and providing instructions to patients to ensure they are prepared for examinations and procedures.

Financial Clearance responsibilities include making outbound calls confirming patient appointments, ensuring demographics are reviewed and correct and ensuring price estimation is completed and communicated in a timely manner. Explain financial requirements and obligations to patients and enter payments into the HIM system. Ensure prior authorization is secured from the payer and verification of insurance details. Informing patients of non-covered charges as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or its equivalent.
• Two (2) years accumulated experience in a clerical or healthcare related position.
• BLS certification or must obtain during Orientation and prior to reporting to department.
