The work schedule for this position is Monday - Thursday, 1 : 30pm - 10 : 30pm.
Position Function - Under the direction of the Public Works Director and / or designee, performs duties necessary to support the Water and Wastewater Division to ensure the proper monitoring and controlling the City’s water pumping stations, storage facilities, and wastewater lift stations through the operation of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. This position also serves as dispatcher for the Public Works Operations Division.
Essential Duties% of Performance
Performs duties necessary to support the Water and Wastewater Division to ensure the proper monitoring and controlling the City’s water pumping stations, storage facilities, and wastewater lift stations through the operation of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. This position also serves as dispatcher for the Public Works Operations Division. Duties include, but are not limited to : SCADA system operation, work order data entry, radio dispatch duties, and receiving incoming phone calls.40%Responsible for site inspections at pump stations, storage tanks, and lift stations to ensure that facilities are secure and equipment is functioning properly. Duties include, but are limited to : problem solving and reporting to on-call personnel; work order data entry and coordination; fire hydrant meter readings and coordination with the Utility Billing Division.

Duties may also require prolonged periods of outdoor activities which may produce exposure to inclement weather.Requirements / Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesRequired knowledge and experience is normally obtained through the completion of a High School Diploma or GED, and one (1) to three (3) years of work related experience in Construction, Water / Wastewater, Utilities or related field is required. A Class C Water Distribution License from TCEQ is preferred. Ability to read meters, charts, gauges, instructional manuals and directions. Ability to perform or learn basic mathematical equations in the performance of analysis.Ability to read, interpret and follow technical information, directives, manuals, memos, reports and other work related materials. Ability to write analysis sheets, reports, inventories, logbooks, purchase orders and work requests. Ability to establish and maintain effective working and professional relationships with City employees and officials, and the general public. Ability to take and follow oral instructions. Ability to work under high demands, short time constraints, and pressure of a fast paced work environment.Ability to work shift work and respond to emergency call-out.Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).Thorough knowledge of work place safety practices and procedures, including but not limited to : lockout / tagout, sewer gas safety, etc.Must exhibit attention to detail, accuracy, and safety. Must be able to communicate and present oneself in a professional manner.Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver license. Must pass all post offer pre-employment processes and / or procedures, to include but not limited to Drug Screen, Physical Examination, and applicable Background Checks.
