The Highway Department of Clark County Government is seeking an energetic individual to fill an opening as a Highway Administrator. This position is responsible for providing clerical support and administrative support primarily to the Clark County Highway Department and for greeting all visitors by maintaining high levels of organization and customer service. This position is based at the Clark County Government Center located at 300 Corporate Drive in Jeffersonville.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Answer phone and route calls accordingly.
  • Submit claims for the Highway, Bridge and IT Department.
  • Keep records of the Developer's Fund and issue claims for Landowners when 80% and 20% complete.
  • Ensure all accounts that this position oversees balances with the Auditor's office.
  • Compile annual video franchise report.
  • Compile Budget for Highway, Bridges and LRS departments.
  • Issue hauling, driveway and excavation permits.
  • Compile and maintain report of collections for Highway Department.
  • Request additional appropriations, when needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of all County owned vehicles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Lift and / or move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS :

  • This position requires working in the internal environment.
  • This position requires a flexible work schedule; evenings and / or weekends may be required.
  • EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING :

  • Minimum of high school diploma required; some college preferred.
  • One to two years' general office experience required.
  • Previous customer services experience.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form.
  • A pleasant, friendly, and outgoing demeanor.
