Telecommunications Operator
Under general supervision, the telecommunications operator is responsible for answering multiple incoming phone lines, dispatching calls, operating the 9-1-1 system and using the radio during assigned shifts, and providing general information to the public. The operator must be willing and able to work flexible shifts, holidays, and weekends as needed.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities :
Education And Experience :
High school graduate or equivalent; OR
At least six (6) months of equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Certificates And Licenses Required :
A Valid Class C Texas driver's license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record
Must obtain a Telecommunications Operator License within six (6) months of hire date, including but not limited to the following courses :
Environmental Factors And Safety Hazards :
Primarily in an indoor environment with the ability to operate outdoors when needed. May be exposed to extreme heat and cold during the summer and winter months.
Tools And Equipment Used :
Standard office equipment including multi-line telephone, two-way radio, multi-channel public safety radio system, digital recording machine, computer, fax machine, copier, scanner, printer, Genovation keypad, etc.
