Position Summary
This role is responsible for performing complex financial and operational analysis within assigned business area(s). Make recommendations to management based on findings. Partners with cross-functional departments as necessary.
Here's What You'll Do
- Participate in business decisions through complex financial modeling, operating and trend analysis, value-added assessments, and risk / opportunity analysis.
- Prepare financial analysis and reporting including but not limited to monthly variance analysis and explanation, profitability and cost analysis, etc. for the assigned business area.
- Evaluate operations to assist with operational management decision making.
- Prepare and compile financial reviews and board reports (annual sales, capital and operating planning) to include but not limited to data analysis, report design, end user support and training, communicating results to management, modeling, time series analysis and presentations of both financial and operational data to enhance management's ability to plan and monitor company performance.
- Consult and educate associates and management on financial analysis and reports to assist with solving business issues.
- Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives; provide ad hoc financial analysis as requested.
- Assist with the preparation of the quarterly board package.
- Maintain current knowledge of regulations and best accounting / finance practices; make recommendations on current processes to ensure that company programs and processes are in compliance with GAAP and SOX.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Here's What You'll Need
Bachelor's Degree (Required) Accounting, Finance or related field.Master of Business Administration (Preferred)3-5 years accounting and / or financial analysis experience.Experience in food distribution / wholesale / retail operations preferred.Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work cross functionally and with all levels in the organization.Strong analytical and effective decision-making skills, organizational and planning skills, attention to detail, strong initiative, and ability to prioritize multiple priorities.Excellent financial / spreadsheet skills.Systems knowledge or the ability to adapt quickly to different systems is important.Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).As part of our People First culture, SpartanNash is proud to offer a robust and competitive Total Rewards benefits package.
