About The Position

Job Title : Respiratory Therapist

Shift : Nights

Hours per Shift : 12 hours (7 PM - 7 AM)

Experience : 1-3 years preferred

License : RT or RCP License in state of employment required

Certifications : BLS required, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC required, ACLS certification required, PALS certification required, NRP certification required

Must-Have : Ability to work in PICU, NICU, and Pediatric ER. Weekend requirement : Every other weekend.

Description :

Responsible for the pulmonary care of critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under the direction of a physician with minimal supervision.

Performs patient assessments and institutes respiratory care plans.

Performs various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures in all areas of the hospital.

Meets expectations of the applicable competencies : Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.

Includes emergency response; airway management; delivery of aerosolized drugs; ventilator management; oral hygiene; airway support device management; oxygen delivery devices; chest film analysis; blood gas collection and analysis; EKG analysis; accurate and complete documentation; and cleaning and stocking of equipment and supplies as necessary.

Participates in CAP and JC surveys.

May function as Shift Leader or serve in the capacity of Team Leader.

Advanced practice skills may include therapeutic gas management and monitoring, pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy assist, hemodynamic monitoring, waveform analysis, nocturnal SpO2 evaluation, and transport duties.
