Schedule Details / Additional Information :

This is a Monday-Friday with shifts scheduled between 7 : 00am - 4 : 30pm, occasional evenings and weekends.

Pay Range

$22.50 - $33.75

Actual compensation offered in the Pay Range of $22.50- $33.75 for an MA or $23.65 - $35.50 for an LPN and will be based on factors such as qualifications, skills, relevant experience and / or training.

Major Responsibilities :

  • Prepares and rooms the patient for new hire appointment or designated testing.
  • Performs laboratory procedures.
  • Administers immunizations under physician / provider orders.
  • Provides basic teammate education and performs fit testing. Refers questions to registered nurses and leader as appropriate.
  • Communicates with teammates and other members of the health care team. Documents and communicates accurate and timely information regarding teammate visit.
  • Performs color blindness testing, blood pressure checks, first aid.
  • Organizes annual teammate flu vaccine clinics.
  • Organizes and prepares exam rooms, and work areas including cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment.
  • Completes routine maintenance and quality monitoring of office / clinic equipment using appropriate technique.
  • Participates in teammate centered initiatives and quality improvement activities.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the teammates served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the teammates status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each teammates requirements relative to his / her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

High School Diploma or GED

Graduate of a medical assistant program or at least two years of medical assistant or equivalent experience within the last five years.

Licensure or Certifications

LPN : Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the state in which the team member practices, and

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not required.

MA : Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not required.

Certification Required :

Medical Assistant (CMA) certification issued by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification issued by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), or

Medical Assistant (RMA) certification issued by the American Medical Technologists (AMT), or

Medical Assistant (NCMA) certification issued by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

Degrees

LPN : Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing

MA : Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :

  • Good communications skills. Experience using a keyboard and computers.
  • Familiarity with equipment used in ambulatory care.
  • Current AHA CPR certification.
  • Ability to travel locally to multiple sites as needed.
  • Ability to work in stressful conditions and difficult situations.
  • Resilient and flexible in a changing environment.
  • Ability to cooperate and work with others.
  • Ability to make sound and timely decisions and ability to work rotating shifts any day of the week.
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :

  • Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other team member, when available.
  • Unique patient lifting / movement situations will be assessed on a case- by- case basis.
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine-hand manipulation skills.
  • Will be exposed to the following hazards on a frequent basis : mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood and body fluids. Will be required to wear protective clothing and equipment as needed.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
