The role you'll contribute : Responsible for the planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating designated nursing service functions and activities for assigned patient care programs / units to ensure delivery of optimal quality of care and organizational effectiveness. This role is also responsible for integrating the Nursing Department's services with the hospital's primary functions and coordinating and integrating services within various specialized departments such as Cardiac Stepdown, Observation, CCU, CPU, ICU, Cardiothoracic / Vascular, General Surgical, Ortho / Neuro Nursing, and Emergency Department, among others. The Assistant CNO is tasked with patient experience, financial management, regulatory compliance, Human Resources issues, employee competency, performance improvement, maintaining and complying with policies and procedures, and regular communication with employees. This position involves direct administrative oversight of Inpatient and Emergency Department services, along with other departments as requested. Furthermore, the role includes developing and implementing policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services, recommending a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care / service, and ensuring the qualifications and competence of staff members meet the needs of patient care and non-patient care services. The Assistant CNO maintains responsibility for assisting in the development of the budget, ensuring that Departmental Operating Reports (DORs) are routinely reviewed and the budget is met, providing orientation, in-service training, and continuing education of all persons in their department(s), continuously assessing and improving their department's performance, maintaining appropriate quality control programs, recommending / planning space and other resources needed by the department, and participating in selecting outside resources needed by their department(s)
