Executive Director, Digital Drug Discovery and AI Strategy
Revolution Medicines is a clinical-stage precision oncology company focused on developing novel targeted therapies to inhibit frontier targets in RAS-addicted cancers. The company’s R&D pipeline includes RAS(ON) Inhibitors and RAS Companion Inhibitors for use in combination treatment strategies. As a member of the Revolution Medicines team, you will join a dedicated group committed to patients with cancers harboring mutations in the RAS signaling pathway.
The Opportunity : As Executive Director, AI / ML Research & Scientific Computing, you will be a senior leader shaping the future of data-driven drug discovery. You will define the research AI / ML strategy, oversee the implementation of advanced analytics across discovery, and build a world-class team to unlock the potential of internal datasets and make insights accessible to scientists. Your leadership will influence early discovery innovation, pipeline acceleration, and strategic portfolio decisions.
Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership and Innovation : Design and scale a robust ML infrastructure with MLOps best practices to enable development, deployment, and monitoring of AI / ML models. Apply deep learning, generative models, and diffusion models to drug discovery (target prediction, hit identification, lead optimization) using RevMed datasets to drive data‑driven decision making.
- Strategic Vision and Leadership : Define the long‑term AI / ML‑enabled discovery vision and mentor a cross‑disciplinary team of data scientists, computational chemists, engineers, and biologists. Establish KPIs and deliver impactful solutions that accelerate portfolio progression.
- External and Cross‑functional Collaboration : Forge partnerships with academic groups, technology providers, and compute platforms. Collaborate across research, chemistry, biology, and IT to identify opportunities for AI / ML integration and ensure scalable deployment. Represent RevMed at scientific forums and shape the field of AI‑driven drug discovery.
Required Skills, Experience and Education
Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Physics, Math or a related field with 15+ years of experience; exposure to drug discovery is a plus.Expertise in a wide range of AI / ML techniques and in developing adaptable ML workflows to solve challenging problems.Deep understanding of AI / ML techniques such as deep learning, reinforcement learning, and generative models.Experience with frameworks such as PyTorch / TensorFlow, training and fine‑tuning models on GPUs.Track record of deploying AI / ML solutions at scale and leading cross‑functional teams.Strong leadership and collaboration across ML Scientists, Software Engineering, and MLOps teams.Experience leading large AI / ML projects with collaboration across diverse stakeholders.Expertise in ML infrastructure and MLOps, including cloud and on‑premises environments.Proven ability to build, scale, and lead high‑performing cross‑functional teams and strong communication skills to bridge scientific and technical disciplines.Passion for scientific innovation and improving patient outcomes.Preferred Skills
Proven track record applying advanced AI / ML approaches (deep learning, generative modeling, structure‑based ML) to drug discovery or related life sciences domains.Knowledge of oncology therapeutic area and drug discovery.Familiarity with biological and chemical datasets and compound libraries.Experience coaching and developing individuals and teams to build long‑term organizational capability.The base pay salary range for this full‑time position for candidates working onsite at our headquarters in Redwood City, CA is listed below. The range displayed on each job posting is intended to be the base pay salary range for an individual working onsite in Redwood City and will be adjusted for the local market. Individual base pay is determined by role, level, and location, among other factors.
Base Pay Salary Range : $256,000 — $320,000 USD
