Special Investigator
This position conducts thorough, objective investigations and provides investigative research and support for the Department of Corrections (DOC), including investigating reported violations of state and agency anti-discrimination policies. Responsibilities include :
This position will require regular travel to Minnesota Correctional Facilities (MCFs) to conduct investigative activities and is subject to the State of MNs telework policy requiring employees living within 50 miles of DOCs Central Office location in St. Paul to work on-site 50% of the time. Completion of a telework agreement will be required. Teleworking employees are required to live in Minnesota or a bordering state in a county along the Minnesota state line.
Minimum Qualifications
To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.
Three (3) years of experience conducting investigations within a legal, civil rights, law enforcement, corrections, human resources or labor relations setting. An Associates degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Law, Public Administration, Public Policy, Sociology, or related field may substitute for six (6) months of experience, a Bachelors degree in a field above may substitute for one (1) year of experience, a JD or Masters degree in a field above may substitute for 18 months of experience. Experience must include all of the following :
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external customers by writing, preparing, and editing reports, letters, and other documents, while using correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and sentence construction.
Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail and effective interpersonal skills in dealing with others, often in demanding situations and under critical time constraints.
Proven analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills sufficient to manage multiple issues at once while evaluating the information provided and determining an appropriate course of action.
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel, and strong keyboarding skills.
Possession of a valid Drivers License.
