Scope of Job :

Maintain manufactured housing program credit quality by underwriting residential manufactured housing chattel loan applications, rendering credit decisions consistent with internal or product guidelines. Underwriting requirements will include functional responsibility for analyzing, approving and denying manufactured housing loan types with various degrees of complexity. Additional duties include 2nd review on adverse action files and originated files to ensure file accuracy and HMDA completion. Incumbent will be expected to work with dealers, realtors, applicants, sales staff and processors and be able to prioritize tasks to meet crucial deadlines. Requires strong attention to detail and strong follow-up skills.

Primary Duties :

Within 24 hours of receiving the completed application, make underwriting decisions on loans up to designated authority and provide analysis and recommendations to supervisor for loans over designated lending authority.

Following established procedures, provide appropriate written documentation for approvals and denials. For approvals, determine and document loan conditions and communicate requirements. Clearly communicate your recommendations and any additional information which will assist in final approval of the loan request. Stay in contact with dealers as applicable. Responsible to review and re-underwrite approved loans with original conditions that are not met or with any exceptions on term or rate made from original loan approval. Adhere to regulatory, bank policy and loan program requirements. This position requires special attention to the CIP, Red Flag, HPML and HMDA regulations and internal guidelines. For denials communicate decisions, complete denial form and HMDA proof forms.

Maintain strong working knowledge and understanding of the manufacturing housing industry including lending programs, rates & trends including monitoring current rates, especially for this region.

Serve as second credit review and HMDA review for any adverse action files by other underwriters at initial underwrite. Perform HMDA data review for withdrawn or denied loans occurring during the pipeline process.

Perform HMDA data review for originated files. Perform post-closing functions such as : loan file review, citing technical exceptions, verification of post-closing tracking system records, and completion follow-up.

Review file prior to closing for complete income verification and ensure all approval conditions are met appropriately.

Assist with servicing for manufactured home loans serviced from the point the loan is booked. At minimum this will include working knowledge of escrow administration systems in place, insurance claim / repair escrow process and collection practices in order to provide assistance and information as needed to mortgage personnel, management and customers.

Secondary Duties :

Work as a team with departmental counterparts on planning and implementing assigned projects and products.

Participate on various committees and project teams as deemed appropriate by management.

Attend and actively participate in training offered.

Adhere to all applicable Policies and Procedures of the BankWest organization.

Community involvement is strongly encouraged.

Requirements

Education :

A high school diploma or equivalent.

Applicable experience and / or related certifications may be considered in lieu of degree.

Experience :

2 years' experience in related field.

Employment is contingent upon meeting all NMLS requirements for licensing on an ongoing basis.

Knowledge and Special Skills :

Ability to work dependently and / or independently, under pressure, meet deadlines, and adjust work schedules as needed to complete job responsibilities.

Ability to organize and handle multiple responsibilities while delivering quality external and / or internal Customer Service.

Strong interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication with external and / or internal customers.

Knowledge or ability to learn regulatory requirements pertinent to performance of specified duties in job description.

Knowledge of banking terminology and procedures.

Knowledge of BankWest products and services.

Ability to skillfully use a variety of application software, learn computer programs, and comprehend the program output.

Adhere to Federal Privacy Standards in addition to following BankWest requirements for electronic communication and Social Engineering standards.
