American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med Surg / Progressive Care Unit (stepdown) position requiring AZ or compact RN license and recent telemetry experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a Med Surg / Progressive Care Unit (MS1) with both telemetry and stepdown beds in an acute care hospital settingUnit has 18 beds, including 6 PCU-capable beds, and all rooms are privatePatient population includes telemetry, stepdown, and med surg patients, with common diagnoses of AMI, stroke / TIA, pneumonia, renal (dialysis), afib RVR, SIRS, and diabetesNurse to patient ratio is 1 : 4 for telemetry and 1 : 3 for PCU / stepdownCNAs split the floor, each taking up to 9 patients, and support staff include tele techs, charge nurse, HUCs, and PCTsUse of Allscripts - Sunrise EMR and Phillips monitors for telemetryRNs are required to validate monitor tech interpretations and document at least every 4 hours12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required; weekend coverage includes Friday & Saturday nightsFloating may be required to all med surg unitsRNs care for telemetry and stepdown patients, including those on high flow O2 or home CPAP as neededExpected to administer and monitor medications such as Cardizem, amiodarone, bumex, Lasix, integrillin, octreotide, and protonixOrientation is 2-3 days with a preceptorUnit may house COVID patients when needed, with modified air handling as appropriate24 / 7 in-house support from hospitalists, pharmacy, and respiratory therapistsNo in-house IV team; RNs manage IVs as needed\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license requiredAt least 1 year recent experience in telemetry and acute care med surg; 2 years preferredCertifications required : ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSSExperience with Phillips telemetry monitors preferredAbility to work night shifts and every other weekend\n Benefits\n
