SALES ENGINEER

Position Summary

This exempt position : Gains a strong knowledge of the Company's products and services and is responsible for explaining how those can be designed to fit the customer's needs; Also responsible for developing relationships, growing sales, and ensuring overall customer satisfaction; Works with internal departments and dealers to ensure the needs of the customer and company are met.

Select Essential Functions and Responsibilities :

  • Actively sells products and services 85% of the time.
  • Answers incoming calls and internet inquiries from customers, outside sales, service and dealers and uses the opportunity to upsell and cross-sell.
  • Follows up with potential and existing customers by telephone and e-mail to sell standard and engineered products.
  • Provides product, service, or technical information by answering questions; sending manuals, drawings, and pictures; checking product availability; helping to determine needs; and coordinating efforts with manufacturing, engineering, and customer service.
  • Uses technical skills to demonstrate to potential customers the usefulness of products and services and how they can meet or exceed customer needs.
  • Prepares and follows up on open orders, delayed orders, and bids and ensures best-in-class close ratios and customer experience.
  • Collaborates with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to determine how products and services can be quoted, made, or modified to the customer's needs.
  • Maintains a high level of product knowledge through continuous improvement and meeting goals and objectives.

Education, Experience & Skills :

  • High School diploma required; college or technical degree preferred
  • CAD experience in Solid Works or Siemens NX
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience / If in manufacturing, a plus
  • Basic understanding of technical drawings
  • Possess solid verbal, written and listening skills
  • Basic mathematical aptitude for calculating percentages, sales prices, discounts, etc.

The base annual compensation range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000 and is dependent upon the skills, level & amount of relevant experience.
