About the Role :

We are seeking a highly motivated R&D Laboratory Supervisor with a strong foundation in engineering or scientific education, technical expertise, and a commitment to quality. This role will lead a high-performing, cross-functional team in a fast-paced medical device environment, overseeing routine and non-routine particulate testing. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of leadership, technical acumen, and project management skills, with a focus on applying scientific and engineering principles to drive excellence.

Your Responsibilities Will Include :

  • Oversee daily laboratory operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
  • Maintain a safe and effective working environment aligned with regulatory standards.
  • Support capital planning and resource allocation for laboratory operations.
  • Develop, monitor, and report laboratory performance metrics and quality indicators, delivering regular updates to management on lab operations and project milestones.
  • Apply scientific methods and engineering principles to troubleshoot testing challenges and support method development.
  • Champion a culture of excellence that supports R&D and ensures adherence to the Quality System.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety and product quality.
  • Lead and develop a team of technicians, fostering cross-training and technical growth.
  • Ensure compliance with good documentation practices, the Quality Policy, and all relevant quality procedures.
  • Serve as the primary contact for project intake and initial screening.
  • Prioritize and coordinate project work requests based on resource availability and timelines.
  • Foster strong partnerships with cross-functional and global teams, including R&D, Process Development, Regulatory, Design Assurance, and Manufacturing.

What We're Looking For In You :

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of R&D laboratory experience, or 2 years with an advanced relevant degree.
  • Laboratory experience in a regulated environment.
  • Experience in test method development.
  • Familiarity performing statistical analysis on data sets.
  • Proficiency in Design of Experiments (DOE) methodology.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a demonstrated application of the scientific method.
  • Adept at developing technical documentation that ensures regulatory compliance and effectively communicates complex information to cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with testing in regulated environments.
  • One year of direct or indirect supervisory experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Laboratory experience in medical device.
  • Experience in statistical analysis and software (ex. Minitab).
  • Experience in test method development within the medical device industry.
  • Testing in medical devices.
  • The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs.

    At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

    Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
