Description : Position Summary :
The purpose of the Auditor position is to audit records to determine appropriate designation of diagnosis, procedure and revenue codes while maintaining compliance with coding guidelines and client guidelines. The focus of the audits is either on (1) Inpatient chart types, (2) Inpatient / Outpatient chart types, or (3) Outpatient / ProFee chart types.
Essential Functions :
- Perform validation audits by analyzing, evaluating and reviewing client medical records to ensure accuracy of code assignment
- Complete worksheets, spreadsheets and / or database entry based on audit findings
- Present mentoring educational material based on audit findings
- Demonstrate proficiency in coding classification systems ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and / or CPT and HCPCS and maintain 95% accuracy based on chart type
- Maintain productivity based on national standards and / or client specific standards
- Follow and adhere to AHIMA’s Standards of Ethical Coding, all applicable regulations and guidelines, and all client specific policies

RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC or CCS-P – active and in good standing with AHIMA or AAPCSeven (7) years of hospital-based, inpatient and / or outpatient coding experience or ProFee coding experienceTwo (2) to Three (3) years of hospital-based, inpatient and / or outpatient auditing experience or ProFee auditing experience.Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally and to present and communicate ideas and concepts in public and privateProficient knowledge and understanding of computers and systemsProficient use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Electronic Health Record Systems (EHRs) and the Internet.Ability to identify cause and effect relationships and address root causes of issuesAbility to establish and maintain effective and constructive working relationships with others, both internal and external to the organizationAbility to work independently and in a team environmentHigh detail orientation with a critical degree of accuracy with repetitive activitiesWork Environment :
