Assistant Revenue Cycle Manager

The Assistant Revenue Cycle Manager is accountable for the supervision, direction and implementation of methods and procedures involved in the accounting of Patient Financial Services / Patient Access.

Responsibilities

Assists in the development and implementation of work standards and procedures that are in compliance with ARH and departmental policies, governmental regulations and various regulatory agency requirements.

Supervises the employees in an efficient manner by planning, organizing and monitoring all activities of the department to obtain maximum results.

Assures that appropriate and accurate records are prepared and maintained on a timely basis.

Responsible for timely submission of all requests from Third Party Follow up unit.

Evaluates subordinates on a regular basis. Assures that employees receive orientation and in-service training.

Supervises preparation, completion and balancing of daily cash receipts.

Supervises the preparation of billing information and posting of daily charges such as late charges, CRNA, Outpatient Pharmacy, Contract Accounts or others as needed.

Accounts for cash receipts from dietary, admissions, and other departments, when applicable.

Responsible for the completion of the Medicare Credit Balance Report.

Supervises the completion of the Medicare Bad Debt Report.

May Supervise the Registration and Admission of patients.

Coordinates activities with collections, admissions, utilization review, medical records and other departments to facilitate billing and receipt of payments.

May supervise activities of Credit and Collection Supervisor / Financial Counselor, as needed.

Maintains files for forwarding to Third Party Follow up Unit, if applicable.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

May coordinate admitting procedures with activities of other departments.

Directs communication services.

May assist in determining the financial status, eligibility for credit and credit arrangements of patients.

Coordinates transfer of patients between Nursing Units with Business Office and Nursing.

Assures completion and accuracy of registration process, if assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience :

Bachelors Degree in Business or Health Care Administration with two years of demonstrated experience in a Patient Financial Services / Business Office / Patient Access office including one year management; or

Associates Degree with three years of demonstrated experience in a Patient Financial Services / Business Office / Patient Access office including one year management; or

High School Diploma with six years of demonstrated experience in a Patient Financial Services / Business Office / Patient Access office including one year management.

Basic knowledge of Patient Financial Services / Patient Access.

Must have demonstrated a high level of administrative ability.

Position Physical Requirements :

Must possess physical ability to endure prolonged sitting, moderate walking, lifting and carrying. May require exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally; and / or up to 10 pounds of force frequently; and / or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those sedentary work.

Specific Accountabilities :

Accountable for proper accounting for income received.

Accountable for accurate and timely preparation of various reports.

Accountable for timely submission of all requests from Third Party Follow Up Unit.

Accountable for supervision of Financial Counselors / Collections Department Staff, when applicable.

Accountable for supervision of local payment posting function.

Supervises employees in an efficient manner.

Evaluates subordinates on a regular basis.
