Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate educator to teach once a week (Wednesday) atMoab Charter School's Blended Education Program's EPIC Day. Students enrolled in the Blended Education Program are educated at home 4 days a week and come to campus once a week to participate in fun, hands-on social studies, science, and humanities lessons. We are seeking an instructor to teach social studies, science, and language arts lessons to students in grades K-8. While a teaching license is a bonus, it is not required for this position. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for a part-time position or for former teachers looking to maintain their license while not having to teach full time. Pay is dependent on experience.
Responsibilities
Develop trusting relationships with students to facilitate the learning environment.
Deliver lessons provided by the school.
Prepare and expand lessons as needed.
Work with the site Education Specialist to plan for EPIC Day to meet the needs of students.
Attend professional learning sessions held 2-3 times a year.
Chaperone monthly field trips if needed.
Support the site Education Specialist as needed.
Requirements
Associates degree or higher or pass the Parapro Praxis.
Experience teaching children or adolescents is preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students.
Homeschool experience a bonus.
Punctuality, reliability and flexibility.
Pass a background check
A typical week might include :
5.5 Hours for EPIC Day : During this time the mentors are teaching students and supervising during lunch and recess.
1 Hour for set up and clean up
1 Hour for planning meeting with the Education Specialist
2.5 Hours for Prep
Additional hours might be granted for help with state assessments or chaperoning field trips.
Job Type : Part-time
Pay : From $17.00 per hour
Expected hours : 8 - 12 per week
