Position Summary : The Toolmaker II is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. They will fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools, or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. They work with minimal supervision of senior level tool makers. Working independently and in a team environment, they will collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality.

Job Duties and Responsibilities :

• Provide support and assistance to all tool room team members. Assist prototype team members as requested.
• Construct and troubleshoot Engineering designs into a viable manufacturing process with available equipment.
• Determine fabrication process and sequence with minimal assistance.
• Fabricate complex jigs and fixtures to complete jobs with minimal supervision.
• Work in both 2D and 3D environments typically within tolerances of + / -.0005".
• Provide guidance to less senior Toolmakers.
• Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
• Participate in 5s workplace organizational activities and maintain the area in good working order through sustainment activities.
• Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
• Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
• May be required to work in other functional areas and / or facilities depending on business needs.
• May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
• Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
