Research & Extension Budget Officer

PURPOSE :

Performs budgeting and administrative functions for the division of Research Extension.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

• Monitors budgets on a weekly basis for all Land Grant related funding.
• Prepares monthly and on-demand budget reports (balances and detailed spending by projects) for project directors (PDs, also referred to as principal investigators or PIs).
• Assists principals PDs in drafting budgets for new grant applications / requests.
• Drafts budget revisions with PDs and work with accounting department to ensure timely completion.
• Enters purchase requisitions, payable vouchers, personnel action forms for PDs.
• Prepares monthly payroll reports for PDs showing allocation by project.
• Monitors execution of monthly time and effort reports by PDs.
• Reconciles Land Grant awards with Grant Accounting on a monthly basis.
• Monitors grant end dates and assists PDs with monitoring remaining balances and closeout activities.
