Your role at baxter :

The Senior Manager – Plastics Engineering is a crucial role in the Plastics Engineering department which is part of the Global Engineering in Integrated Supply Chain Organization. Plastics Engineering Group provides subject matter expertise in the broader Tooling & Molding area. It encompasses Injection Molding, Blow Molding & Extrusion processes. Individual is expected to have strong technical knowledge and experience in the areas of different types of tools, tool design, various types of machines, technologies and suppliers of equipment in above mentioned areas. Experience in Medical Device New Product Development is a must. Experience with Structured Phase Gate Development approach is huge plus, combined with application of DFM (Design for Molding & Design for Manufacturing) & DFA (Design for Assembly) principles is a must requirement. Ability and mindset of training & development of junior members of the Team is required. Manage Financials & Project Timelines, including holding Tooling vendors responsible for tool build quality and capability of molded products is a must requirement.

The incumbent will work collaboratively with internal / external cross-functional teams consist of Suppliers, Tooling Vendors, Baxter Production Sites Technical & Supply Chain groups, R&D, Marketing, Quality & Clinical individuals on tooling & molding related challenges, capacity addition / replacement tools, quality issues & problems and new product development. He will cultivate collaboration by building positive relationships with internal partners (plant managers, QMRs, business segment leaders, procurement partners, etc.), and simplify the complex to solve business problems and drive business results.

What you will be doing :

• Lead & manage high profile, high complexity projects, which typically include capacity expansion, capacity replacement, new technology, new platform design & development projects. Manage technical design aspect of part design, tool design, capacity analysis, capital budget requirements & request approvals & broader Molding & Tooling strategy for internal manufacturing as well as Direct Procurement.
• Extensive & in-depth knowledge of Hot runner tool design & its application in high cavitation tools.
• Strong knowledge of Scientific Injection Molding Process Development utilizing Statistical Software & Analysis techniques.
• Fundamental knowledge of various type of resins, raw materials and their application in medical device Design V&V.
• Have experience based knowledge of various tooling & molding suppliers, their strength & capabilities over the period of time, including tool pricing structures & estimates for new tools & refurbishment of the tools. Be able to recommend and take decisions on tools build & repairs.
• Strong knowledge of Quality Standards & requirements applicable to Medical Device Design & Manufacturing, including production platforms validation requirements such as IQ / OQ / PQ & Capability Requirements for DFSS & large-scale production platforms.
• Knowledge of various resins and their processing characteristics is a plus.
• Perform supplier capability assessments and / or audits, as related to process controls, manufacturing capabilities, and lean maturity. Publish assessment reports outlining non-conformities, opportunities for improvement, and working closely with suppliers to plan / implement appropriate and timely corrective actions.
• Maintain relationships with key external suppliers / partners and internal collaborators / customers (manufacturing operations, planning and fulfillment, quality, business segments, engineering, etc.) promoting collaboration, diversity, and a cross-functional approach to solving business problems and driving business results.
• Drive supply base improvement for respective Baxter manufacturing facilities (manufacturing plants or External Contract Manufacturers (ECM), including systematically review supplier's performance, propose continuous improvement activities, and work with suppliers to achieve process improvements to meet quality, delivery, and cost improvement targets.
• Identify the processes vital to get things done, adheres to ethics and compliance, ability to simplify ways of working, and ability to manageme multiple projects simultaneously to drive efficient and effective workflow.
• Balances process centric behaviors (looking for new and better ways to accomplish work) and results driven behaviors (getting the work done). Do and improve the work. Seeks to understand different perspectives, cultures, and diverse experiences to foster collaboration in a highly matrix and global organization.
• Flexibility to travel is required – 25% to 50%.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a base salary range of $144,000 to $198,000, plus an annual incentive bonus, commission target, and equity target. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills / experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic / office location.
