Overview
Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 6680) at GameStop. This role supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations and helps develop a sales culture by delivering outstanding guest service and product knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class guest service : greet guests, respond to questions / concerns promptly and courteously, inform guests of promotions, recommend items, and circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks.
- Support the shopping environment and current sales initiatives to foster guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases / returns accurately using the POS system; ensure proper handling of changes, receipts, and packaging with top-notch service.
- Respond to guest inquiries in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager as needed.
- Promote GameStop guest benefits (e.g., reservations program, trade-in program, Pro Rewards).
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training associates in policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Monitor associate performance, provide feedback, and address performance concerns per direction from the Store Manager.
- Provide recognition and documented feedback in Workday / HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
- Ensure onboarding, training, and compliance training are completed prior to shifts; knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocols, and ethics.
- Assist in scheduling and supervising store associates to maintain optimal guest service levels.
- Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify time records.
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are functioning.
- Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily.
- Protect company assets via inventory control and loss prevention; communicate concerns to the Store Manager.
- Support sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete administrative and operational duties.
- Conduct store inventories, restock merchandise, and organize products for easy access.
- Manage daily closeout procedures : balance cash, prepare bank deposits, and ensure adequate cash on hand.
- Verify shipments, record discrepancies, conduct inventories, and report issues to management.
- Process defectives / recalls and stock pulls with proper labeling and packing lists.
- Monitor guest and associate safety; report injuries per guidelines.
- Maintain organized store records and ensure manuals are up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Follow opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.Must be at least 18 years old.High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and / or management experience preferred.Video game knowledge preferred.Key Skills & Abilities
