A law firm seeks a Patent Agent or Technical Specialist to join its Intellectual Property practice in Houston, Texas. The ideal candidate will have a background in Engineering, Math, or Physics, with at least three years of experience, preferably in patent prosecution within the Oil and Gas industry.

Duties

Draft patent applications and prosecute them before the USPTO.
Analyze scientific or technical documents to assess inventions or issued patents.
Draft detailed descriptions of inventions in precise legal terms.
Prepare information disclosure statements and other related materials.
Manage a U.S. and foreign patent prosecution docket to meet deadlines.
Conduct interviews with USPTO examiners.
Stay updated on legal developments in intellectual property.

Requirements

Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, or related field.

Admission to practice before the USPTO for Patent Agent candidates.

Experience in the oil and gas industry or similar sectors preferred.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong academic credentials and excellent communication skills.

Education

Certifications

USPTO admission for Patent Agent candidates.

Skills

Strong analytical and drafting skills.

Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

Proficiency in managing patent prosecution dockets.
