We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to join the System Definition and Validation Group within the Force Projection Sector . Our team focuses on translating warfighter needs and capability gaps into system definitions for development of strategic weapon systems, and validate the developed systems meet those needs. We serve as trusted technical partners to sponsors, industry, and stakeholders for defining and validating system capabilities required to meet evolving threat and warfighter needs. Our team works directly with the government sponsors, the prime contractors, and a national team of UARCs, FFRDCs, and industry partners, providing independent, technical inputs and recommendations to help ensure the nation and warfighter receive the required capabilities for the mission. To achieve this, we provide expertise in weapon systems engineering, weapon system design and analysis, requirements and architecture definition, decision science and trade space exploration, and mission and CONOPS definition. Your contributions will be key to advancing nationally important defense programs and providing critical contributions to strategic weapon systems.

As a Senior Systems Engineer...

• Your primary responsibility will be to provide systems engineering thought leadership and expertise focusing on requirements analysis, concept / technology development, risk assessments and test & evaluation for strategic deterrent systems.
• You will utilize tools to analyze weapon system capabilities and to assist in the development of future weapon system requirements.
• You will participate in design and requirements reviews.
• You will provide domain expertise while leading / coordinating research, studies, and analysis on current and future weapons system capabilities and performance, as well as provide supporting data and associated recommendations to advise program sponsors.
• You will deliver formal presentations to sponsors and supporting contractors, and effectively communicate proposed concepts / solutions and analysis results. You will produce reports that bring together concept definitions, requirements, analysis results, and technical recommendations.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education / training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and / or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
