UX Quantitative Researcher, Google Photos — Join to apply for the UX Quantitative Researcher, Google Photos role at Google.

Google Photos is a photo sharing and storage service. The UX team works to understand user attitudes, emotions, needs, and behaviors to inspire and inform design. As a Quantitative UXR, you will inform teams of UX designers, product managers, and engineers about user needs and help create useful, usable, and delightful products.

Responsibilities

  • Define and measure quantitative UX goals and metrics in collaboration with Designers, Qualitative Researchers, Data Scientists, Engineers, and Program Managers.
  • Develop code and statistical models to understand user experience.
  • Conduct empirical research using methods from computer science, quantitative social science, statistics, econometrics, and other fields to understand user behavior and extract meaningful patterns from data sets.
  • Design and field scaled surveys to gather valid and reliable data based on different stimuli.
  • Develop code to retrieve, clean, and analyze data sets.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in product research in an applied research setting, or similar.
  • 2 years of experience with R or Python in data manipulation, computational statistics, and modeling.
  • Experience in programming languages used for data manipulation and computational statistics (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB, C++, Java, or Go).

    • Preferred qualifications

  • Masters degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field.
  • 3 years of experience working with senior leadership (Director level and above).
  • 2 years of experience conducting UX research on products, managing projects, and working in a changing organization.
  • Experience in data visualization techniques and evaluating machine learning models.
  • Experience with multivariate statistics and the design of experiments.
  • Ability to write efficient queries to extract and format data with SQL.
