Responsibilities Hospital setting on a neurosurgical / neuroscience Med / Surg step down unit Night shift schedule working 3x12-hour shifts (19 : 00-07 : 30) Patient population includes neurotrauma, MVA, stroke, seizure, brain and spinal cord injuries, post-craniotomy and neurosurgical cases Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1 : 5–6 Unit features primary care nursing with strong team and charge nurse support Unit performs in / out caths, IVs, g-tubes, lumbar punctures, trachs, PCA pumps, and wound vacs as needed Early mobility and rehab services integrated into daily care Travelers required to float within hospital or to affiliate hospitals, including Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU levels of care Uses Cerner EMR system for documentation Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned as needed, with orientation and support provided First time travelers are welcome to apply Must be willing to work every other weekend, with potential for consecutive weekends per operational needs Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract All call-in shifts must be made up or added to the end of the contract as applicable Perm or PRN employees of IU must be separated for at least 12 months before applying Auto-approval of up to 5 non-holiday days of requested time off (RTO); requests beyond 5 days require facility approval Modules must be completed online prior to start Excellent interdisciplinary team support, including therapies and reduced-charge nurse assignments Requirements Active IN or Compact RN license required and must be in hand before start Minimum of 18 months to 2 years RN experience required, including IV start skills Previous experience in Med / Surg, telemetry, or PCU level of care accepted Current BCLS and NIHSS certifications required (AHA & RQI accepted) Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program Ability to provide 2 supervisor references for consideration Ability to perform neuro assessment and care interventions Cerner EMR experience preferred IN residents not eligible for this position Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-625525.
