We are seeking a full-time Rheumatologist (MD / DO) to provide outpatient medical care at Womack Army Medical Center, serving active-duty military members and their beneficiaries. The ideal candidate will be board certified or board eligible in Rheumatology, with an unrestricted state license to practice medicine. Additional certifications in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support are required, along with a valid DEA registration number.

Rheumatologist Requirements :
Degree / Education : Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degreeCertifications in addition to Basic Life Support : Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements in AR 351-3 or as determined by the provider s State of licensure, whichever is more stringent. Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), etc. certifications. The American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is the only program accepted for these certifications.Experience : See belowBoard Certification : Board certified / board eligible in Rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).Licensure / Registration : Shall possess and maintain throughout the life of the contract a valid, unrestricted state license to practice medicine in one of the 50 states in the United States or the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. Additional licenses held by a provider must be in good standing whether they are inactive, expired, or limit the provider s practice to a military setting. The healthcare provider s license(s) must remain current, valid, and unrestricted throughout the duration of the contract worker performance on the contract. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Registration : Requirements for DEA registration numbers are required for Rheumatologist. Must have and maintain a current, valid, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number (certificate) to prescribe controlled substances in accordance with the law of the state where services are provided.Duties : The duties are as follows :
The contract provider shall perform all procedures commonly performed by a RheumatologyDuties shall consist of, but are not limited to, the following :Provide medical examination, care, and treatment to MTF patients.Provide medical care and treatment of communicable diseases and / or injuries.Conserve health of patients by application of diversified knowledge of preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic medical and surgical procedures.Seek advice of consultants when appropriate.Instruct and monitor other medical personnel in care and treatment of patients to include nontherapeutic services such as physical examinations.Initiate requests for tests, x-rays, and admissions to the medical treatment facility, as appropriate.Follow-up on abnormal reports.
