The Director of Rehabilitation (DOR) is responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality rehabilitation services (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology) in a skilled nursing facility (SNF). This leadership role ensures the rehab department operates efficiently, complies with all applicable regulations, meets clinical and financial goals, and provides exceptional patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities :
Leadership & Management
Supervise, support, and evaluate rehab staff, including therapists and assistants.
Foster a positive, collaborative, and efficient team environment.
Ensure adequate staffing levels and manage daily schedules.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure documentation meets Medicare, Medicaid, and state / federal regulatory guidelines.
Conduct audits and monitor outcomes to maintain high clinical standards.
Ensure therapy services meet or exceed internal and external compliance benchmarks.
Program Oversight
Coordinate delivery of Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), and Speech Therapy (ST) services.
Oversee individualized care planning and treatment interventions.
Monitor patient progress and ensure optimal clinical outcomes.
Financial & Operational Management
Monitor and manage department budgets, productivity, and billing accuracy.
Participate in strategic planning and facility performance improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with facility leadership on census development and marketing initiatives.
Communication & Collaboration
Serve as liaison between rehab staff, nursing, medical staff, and administration.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and care conferences.
Provide education and training to facility staff and families as needed.
Qualifications : Education :
Graduate of an accredited program in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology.
Licensure :
Must hold a current, active license in the state of practice.
Experience :
Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in long-term care, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or management role.
Previous DOR or SNF experience strongly preferred.
Skills & Competencies :
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Knowledge of Medicare / Medicaid guidelines and SNF regulatory requirements.
Proficiency with EMR and therapy documentation systems (e.g., Casamba, Net Health, Rehab Optima).
