About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on EHS Engineer to join our team in Henrico, VA. This role is perfect for an experienced safety professional who thrives on the production floor, works closely with teams, and drives a proactive safety culture. You'll be responsible for implementing and maintaining our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

This is not a desk-only role — we're looking for someone who is engaged on the floor, working side by side with production and maintenance teams to create a safe, compliant, and continuously improving workplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support, implement, and improve EHS programs in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and local regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments on the production floor.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; lead root cause analyses and corrective action plans.
  • Facilitate employee safety training and toolbox talks; coach teams on safe work practices.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and production staff to ensure compliance and resolve EHS issues in real-time.
  • Maintain EHS records and documentation, including incident reports, training logs, and compliance records.
  • Monitor use of hazardous materials and waste disposal to ensure environmental compliance.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness planning and drills.
  • Act as a key resource for regulatory inspections and customer audits related to safety and environmental performance.

Qualifications

  • 3–4+ years of experience in EHS, safety, or related technician / specialist role within a manufacturing environment (electrical manufacturing experience a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and general industry safety requirements.
  • Hands-on experience conducting audits, training, and incident investigations.
  • Comfortable spending significant time on the production floor, engaging with teams.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on corrective actions.
  • Certifications such as OSHA 30, First Aid / CPR, or other safety credentials are preferred but not required.
