Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is searching for an Industrial / Principal Industrial Engineer Level 2 / 3 to lead our manufacturing optimization efforts in Iuka, MS
Role Overview
In this role, you will work together with Engineering and Operations to develop and refine production build schedules, implement cost-saving solutions and drive efficiency improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand frontline problems and implement cost-saving solutions.
- Utilize Continuous Improvement tools to analyze shop floor practices and processes to minimize scrap, reduce cost, increase capacity and optimize schedule.
- Work with frontline leadership to assess current state and define future state possibilities.
- Provide tactics and training to frontline leaders and shop floor personnel to improve the current state and define future possibilities.
- Conduct studies and generate metrics related to efficiency, cycle times, WIP, manpower, cost performance and product delivery.
- Partner with manufacturing management to develop and track recovery plans that instill confidence within program management and customers.
- Apply systems thinking in developing metrics to improve product flow from raw material release through product delivery.
- Provide capacity planning, rate tool analyses and facility layouts to ensure ongoing success of composite operations.
This position is on-site in Iuka, MS and cannot be performed remotely. Travel is estimated to be around 10%.
Basic Qualifications
Industrial Engineer Level 2
Bachelor of Science in a STEM field with 1 year of experience in Manufacturing, Aerospace, Mechanical, Project Management, Industrial, Facilities, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Systems or Process Engineering or Master's in STEM with 0 years of experience.Ability to work on an assembly floor.Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.Principal Industrial Engineer Level 3
Bachelor of Science in a STEM field with 4 years of experience in the same fields or Master's in STEM with 3 years of experience or PhD in STEM with 1 year of experience.Ability to work on an assembly floor.Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.Preferred Qualifications
Expertise in Lean Six Sigma methodologies / Kaizen practices.Proficiency in Excel (macros, data mining, pivot tables).Experience with data analysis or visualization tools.Active DoD clearance.Special Program Access.Demonstrated leadership through community involvement, extracurriculars, etc.What We Offer
Northrop Grumman offers exceptional benefits, healthcare, 401(k) matching, and 14 Employee Resource Groups. Salary ranges are $66,600–$99,800 (Primary) and $82,100–$123,100 (Secondary). Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses and long-term incentives for senior positions. U.S. Citizenship is required for all positions with a government clearance.
