Sr Engineering Support Specialist – Kansas City National Security Campus
Summary
This position performs a full range of complex engineering support assignments requiring significant knowledge of manufacturing, business and project management processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work independently on complex engineering support tasks aligned with business strategies.
- Identify and pursue improvement opportunities, revise processes, and maintain MES factory instructions.
- Create new production routings, adhere to factory instruction standards, and facilitate reviews with Production Control, Quality Engineering, Inspection, Product Engineering, and Operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to work instructions.
- Interpret design definitions and suggest improvements for function, manufacturability, and cost; facilitate reviews with process and quality engineering and production operations.
- Assess utilization of capital equipment, provide recommendations, and conduct annual inventory and reporting.
- Develop documentation for engineering concurrence supporting cost management, Cost Price Estimates (CPEs), risk assessments, and management / tracking against cost and schedule requirements.
- Maintain and assess quality documentation required for product acceptance.
- Provide mentoring for Engineering Support Specialist II.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and five (5) or more years of relevant experience OR seven (7) years previous experience in general business operations, manufacturing or engineering related administrative activities such as configuration management, financial reporting, product testing procedures & data entry.Proven decision making, organization & problem solving skills.Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.Remote / hybrid / on-site flexibility as directed by management.Regular and reliable attendance is essential.United States Citizenship.Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations).Benefits & Recognition
Strong PC literacy, proficient in MS Office products. Effective verbal and written communication. Demonstrated expertise in MES, Matrix, Enterprise Content Management, Computer Aided Design, and related areas. Knowledge of KCNSC processes highly preferred.
