Solid Waste Department Administrative Support
Responsible for providing administrative support to the Solid Waste Department. Assist management staff with various assignments and special projects.
Essential Job Duties :
- Manages Solid Waste Department projects.
- Manages complex schedules, correspondence, and tasks.
- Facilitates communication and collaboration between different teams and departments.
- Answers the phone, takes messages, greets visitors, and directs same to appropriate staff.
- Primarily assists respective Managers with day-to-day tasks, maintains calendar, travel arrangements and special projects.
- Assists the public or contractors with questions or applications regarding sanitation services.
- Maintains filing system for the department.
- Responsible for setting up meeting rooms.
- Makes copies of documents, letters, etc.
- Processes, picks up and distributes mail for the department.
- Prepares a variety of reports on an ongoing basis such as payroll.
- Operates the financial system Tyler Munis by entering requisitions and creating purchase orders.
- Performs related duties as required.
Physical and Environmental Conditions :
Ability to sit, stand, and move about a building. Ability to bend and lift for the purpose of filing and collecting materials.Ability to work under stress or recurring deadlines.Self-motivated and team player.Required Contacts :
Ability to effectively communicate with citizens, customers, and employees : to provide and gather required information.Required Qualifications :
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and office telephone protocol.Duties require professional verbal and written communications skills and the ability to work on a personal computer system.Must effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, with the public, customers, and other city employees.Have ability in the performance and use of general math and algebra functions.Knowledge of filing system.Ability to investigate problems thoroughly, analyze detailed information and perform accurate troubleshooting to obtain the proper result to correct a situation.Ability to keep clerical records and prepare accurate reports.Knowledge of basic accounting procedures.Knowledge of internet explorer, and outlook express, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Organizer.Minimum Education, Experience, and Certification :
High school diploma or equivalent required and some college preferred. Valid Texas Driver's License is required.Must be proficient in Word and Excel software.
