Job Title : Visiting Librarian

Full / Part Time : Part-time

Campus : Post

Reports To : Dean of University Libraries

Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities : The Adjunct Reference Librarian performs a range of duties in a busy user-oriented academic library environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide ready reference and in-depth reference assistance to library patrons
• Answer questions and provide research assistance using reference materials, including online and print resources
• Demonstrate to library patrons how to search for information using the library’s databases and catalog
• Provide reference assistance in various modes including in-person, telephone, live chat and instant messaging services
• Provide library instruction
• Provide assistance with LibGuides when needed
• Supervision of student workers when needed
• Explain use of library facilities, resources, equipment and services; provide information about library policies and procedures
• Assist with collection development and other library-related tasks
• Other duties / projects as assigned

Qualifications

Education Requirements : ALA-accredited Master’s degree in library science required

Working Conditions

Library / office environment. Weekend evenings (Saturday and Sunday) required. Other hours may also be assigned based on the needs of the library.

Salary and Equipment

Salary Rate : $32 per hour
