Single point of contact for regional leaders; supports the surety underwriting team by setting strategy and guidelines to support production and profitability goals as well as to help identify and develop overall marketing strategy. Works with regional underwriting teams on the largest, most complex accounts. Deepens relationships with key agents and large accounts.
Key Responsibilities :
Reporting Relationships : Reports to VP; No direct reports.
Typical Skills and Experiences :
Education : Undergraduate degree in business administration, insurance, risk management, economics or finance preferred.
License / Certification / Designation : Actively pursuing of AFSB, CPCU or other related insurance certification desired.
Experience : Ten years' experience in surety underwriting including at least five years management or consultant experience preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills : Commercial Surety & Fidelity Products, credit / collections, rating, and related functions; and surety customer environment and markets. Also requires extensive knowledge of surety underwriting standard methodologies, field underwriting operations, and day-to-day underwriting operational needs. Familiarity with other lines of business preferred. Demonstrated decision-making ability required in day-to-day operations involving the evaluation and recommendation of solutions to underwriting issues, customer service issues, underwriting selection and rating problems, and standard methodologies compliance. Ability to manage and lead associates in all aspects of surety operations.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager's leader and HR Business Partner.

The national salary range for Sr Director, Business Development - Surety : $150,000.00-$293,000.00. The expected starting salary range for Sr Director, Business Development - Surety : $157,000.00 - $262,000.00.
